Get to know me

The person behind the LENS
Hi, I’m Caryn!
I grew up in South Africa 🇿🇦, where some of my favorite childhood memories weren’t built around things, but around experiences. Exploring. Being outside at braais (what we call BBQ’s!). Time spent together. I think that’s why I’ve always believed the best memories aren’t bought; they’re lived.
These days, I’m happiest wandering somewhere beautiful with my camera, noticing the little things most people walk right past. Maybe that’s why I love photographing families. Every one has its own rhythm, its own traditions, and its own wonderfully quirky way of loving each other.
My APPROACH
I notice odd little things.
I’ll smell a candle and ask, “What flavor is this?” (Because it’s a flavor, right?! )
I’ll point out the way your son absentmindedly reaches for your hand when he’s tired, or the look your husband gives you right before everyone starts laughing.
Those little things fascinate me, because they’re the details that become priceless years later.
the way I work
Since 2009, I’ve had the privilege of walking alongside families with my camera. It’s a front-row seat to stories that are completely ordinary while you’re living them, and completely priceless a few years later.
I’m always learning, not just from photography, but from life. Every place I travel, every conversation I have, and every experience adds another layer to the way I see the world. I think that’s made me a better photographer. The more deeply I learn to see, the more beautifully I can help you remember what mattered.
Known for seeing the little things that make your family unmistakably yours.
creating LASTING MEMORIES.
The days may feel ordinary now, but they won’t always. One day they’ll be the stories your family tells around the dinner table, and the photographs everyone reaches for. I’d love to help you preserve them. Because one day, today’s ordinary will be the part you miss the most.
