Brianna & Tyler | A Brewster, MA Maternity Session
Some sessions you plan. Some sessions you feel long before you ever pick up the camera.
Some sessions you plan carefully. And some sessions you just know are going to be something before you even get there.
Brianna and Tyler’s Brewster maternity session was the second kind.
We actually started their session at the stable with Glory (Brianna’s horse, and yes, I will get to her in a minute). Then a few weeks later, we met at the bay for golden hour. The dogs came too, at least for the first part.
Tyler was already laughing when I got there. Brianna was relaxed and completely herself in this beautiful flowing dress, and the sky turned the most incredible pink and lavender over the water as the evening went on.
It was one of those evenings you just feel grateful to have been part of.
From my very first conversation with Brianna, I knew this session meant something more.
Graham is a rainbow baby. The road to him wasn’t simple, and Brianna and Tyler carried that quietly through everything leading up to this moment.
There’s a particular kind of joy that comes with a rainbow pregnancy. It’s full and real, but it also has a little weight to it. A gratitude that goes deeper than just excitement. When I’m photographing someone who has walked that road, I feel it, and I want to honor it.
These are the sessions I think about years later. Not just because the photos are beautiful, but because of what they represent for the family holding them.
Glory
Okay, we need to talk about Glory.
Glory is Brianna’s horse, and when Brianna mentioned during our planning that she’d love to include her but wasn’t sure if it was realistic, I didn’t hesitate. Let’s do it.
We spent the first part of their session at the stable, Brianna in her flowing cream dress, Glory being an absolute sweetheart about the whole thing. There’s just something about that pairing — a mama-to-be and her horse — that photographs in a way that feels so personal and so beautiful. It’s not something you see every day, and I loved every minute of it.
Brianna leaned against her, laughed with her, and at one point climbed right up on her back. Those ended up being some of her very favorite images from the whole experience, and honestly I can see why.
This Brewster MA Maternity Session is all about the Beach
For the beach part of their session, I brought Brianna and Tyler to one of my favorite locations for a Brewster MA maternity session. If you’ve ever tried to find a peaceful stretch of Cape Cod beach in June, you know that “uncrowded” isn’t always easy to come by. One of the things I love most about what I do is knowing the hidden spots…the ones that stay quiet and beautiful even at the height of summer.
The dogs came for the first part, because of course they did, and those photos are genuinely adorable. Then a friend took the pups and it was just the two of them for the rest of the evening. Walking into the water together, sitting on the jetty rocks, laughing at nothing in particular. That easy, unhurried kind of love that just shows up in front of a camera when two people are truly comfortable with each other.
The light that night was something else. That soft pink and lavender that spreads across Cape Cod Bay as the sun goes down! I’ve photographed a lot of Brewster maternity sessions at golden hour and that sky never gets old. There was one moment where I just stopped and took a breath before lifting the camera back up.
Some evenings just give you everything.
These two
I have to say a word about Tyler. Some partners show up to maternity sessions looking like they’ve been asked to do something they’d rather not. Tyler showed up genuinely happy to be there. Relaxed, present, completely proud of his wife. The kind of partner who makes my job easy without even trying.
And Brianna! She was just lovely. I know “glowing” gets thrown around a lot when people talk about pregnant women, but she really, truly was. She laughed easily, she was comfortable in her own skin, and she brought so much of her own personality into every moment. You can feel it in the images.
When a couple comes into a session that relaxed and that connected, it shows up in every single frame. These two didn’t need much direction from me. They just needed a beautiful place and a little time together.
A Little Boy Who Is Already So Loved
Brianna told me Graham was already sassy and energetic in the womb, and honestly based on that newborn photo she sent me later, I believe it completely.
Look at that face.
And that gorgeous wall art behind her! Seeing these images come to life in someone’s home is one of my favorite things about this work.
He has no idea yet what his parents walked through to get to him, or how deeply he was already loved before he ever took a breath. Someday he’ll look at these photographs and understand. For now he just gets to be here, and that is more than enough.
